Because app updates are not automatic for everyone, the legacy version will remain on your device until you have updated the app. Once updated, the new version will replace the legacy version.
The new version will have broadly the same functionality as the legacy one, but with extra features and improvements. We completely understand that change can be challenging for some children. That's why we are working a mix of new and familiar elements into the game, such as monster parts, costumes, stars and some old familiar games and characters will look recognisable, for instance, which we hope will make children feel more comfortable about the transition.
Players’ progress will also transfer to the new game, so children can continue learning from the same stage.
If you would like to access the new version, the current expectation for most platforms is that the new version of the app won't drop until late 2026, so you’ll have plenty of time to start preparing your child for the change.
We will also continue to provide free-of-charge access to the legacy Teach Your Monster to Read through a browser on laptops and computers via our website.
We hope this will help with a smooth transition, but if you have any concerns or further questions, please email us at [email protected].
