As well as the years of experience we have from the legacy version, we have enlisted many experts to help inform the development of the new version, ensuring that the pedagogical foundation of the game is based on current research and curricula.
Angela Colvert - Our expert on the legacy Teach Your Monster to Read game and continuing consultant on the new version. She works as a Senior Lecturer in English Education at the University of Roehampton.
Alyssa O’Rourke - US Literacy advisor/consultant. Alyssa received her doctorate in applied child development with a concentration in clinical developmental psychology from Tufts University, The Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development. In graduate school, she worked with Dr Maryanne Wolf on a large-scale intervention study in three cities comparing different reading intervention programs. For the past two decades or more, Alyssa has worked in clinical research and implementation roles related to dyslexia, learning disabilities, literacy, and the Science of Reading. She is currently a Fellow at the Science of Reading Center at SUNY New Paltz.
Steph Laird - UK Literacy Advisor/Consultant. Steph is an Associate Professor at the University of Roehampton, working in the School of Education. She is Programme Leader for the Primary PGCE and teaches English Education on the PGCE Primary and BA (QTS) courses. With a background as a Primary Class Teacher and English Subject Leader, Steph now ensures that student teachers are fully educated in research-informed practice to be equipped to teach children the fundamental skills of literacy for ages 3-11.
